We are 3 Dads Walking.
Raising Suicide Awareness Across the Country One Step at a Time
Raising awareness.
Suicide is the biggest killer of those under 35 in the UK. We only learned this terrifying fact because our daughters took their own lives. By raising awareness, we hope we can help prevent other families from being devastated by suicide.
Walking to Save Young Lives
Suicide prevention will now be taught in schools across England.
We’re Andy, Mike and Tim – three dads who each lost a daughter to suicide. Sophie, Beth and Emily were bright, kind, and deeply loved. Their deaths were devastating. Life without them is something we carry every day.
Out of that grief, we found each other – and a shared purpose: to do something to stop this happening to other families.
Since 2021, we’ve walked over 1,500 miles across the UK. We’ve raised over £1.5 million for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide, spoken with thousands of people including many bereaved by suicide, and worked alongside civil servants, MPs, Ministers, Prime Ministers, campaigners, academics and charities to call for change.
Now, change is happening.
Suicide prevention is being added to the school curriculum in England.
For the first time, schools will be expected to talk openly with pupils about suicide prevention – helping more young people to speak up, seek help, and find hope.
This is a huge step forward. And it will save lives.
We’re proud to have helped make it happen. But this isn’t the end – it’s the start of something even bigger.
We’ll keep walking.
To raise awareness.
To keep the conversation going.
To make sure suicide prevention is delivered safely in schools – and supported with the right training and resources.
And always, to remember Sophie, Beth and Emily – and every young life that should still be here.
If you're worried about a young person who may be feeling suicidal, you're not alone – and support is available.
Please visit the Help & Advice page on the PAPYRUS website for clear, compassionate guidance and 24/7 support.
Thank you for walking with us.
Meet The Dads
Mike - Beth’s Dad
I could not possibly love Beth more and not to have her physically in my life is beyond devastating. Never to hear her say ‘Love you Dad’ again is beyond comprehension. That terrible word ‘suicide’ and Beth never belong in the same sentence. It is always something that happens to someone else, but not this time, it happened to my family and me. Read More…
Andy - Sophie’s Dad
Born & bred in Cumbria and I have spent much of my life living, working and playing on and around the Lake District fells. I live with my family, Fiona & Gregor, in the Eden valley. Tim - Emily’s Dad
I have lived in Norfolk for years, and that is where Emily was born and brought up, in a small village to the west of the county. My family’s world turned upside down when, on the 18th March 2020, Emily decided she couldn’t cope with life under lockdown and attempted to take her own life. Read More…
