3 Dads Walking 2024 Day 13 - Thruscross Reservoir to Leeds

Several people were waiting for us when we arrived at Thruscross Reservoir car park. A great way to start the day, smiling faces and plenty of encouragement. A bright, breezy morning gave us perfect walking conditions.

Our group was made up by people bereaved by suicide and locals who wanted to show their support. The walk to Otley was filled with conversation, memories and laughter (especially when Steve fell in a stream....)

Lunch ay Otley then over the Chevin en route to Leeds. More suicide bereaved families joined us as we made our way towards the city – more memories shared and yet more people asking why we don’t talk to our young people about the biggest risk in their lives.

On entering Meanwood Park we were met by Kevin Sinfield....!

He had just visited Rob Burrow and intercepted us as we cross the ring road. Kevin walked with us for a while, talked to us about why we were walking and what we were hoping to achieve. He offered us his support and invited us to join him on his next ultra-running challenge!

After Kevin left us we had a short walk to the finish at the PAPYRUS office in Leeds where and enthusiastic crowd welcomed us with Al Garthwaite, Lord Mayor of Leeds. A very upbeat way to end a very positive day.
